Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and world champion boxer Natasha Jonas officially opened the new summer season at Liverpool Watersports Centre in Queen’s Dock.
Liverpool Watersports Centre is a not for profit and a part of the charity Local Solutions, with the aim to make watersports accessible for all by providing a variety of affordable activities for individuals and groups.
Based in Queens Dock, and in the shadow of Liverpool’s Three Graces, the centre hosts a wide range of watersports activities.
Carragher and Jonas were joined by celebrity chef Ellis Barrie, former boxer Paul Smith and host of the popular Leg It podcast Andy Grant on the day as confetti cannons were set off, unveiling an incredible new inflatable £32,000 adventure attraction.
Liverpool Watersports Centre also offers a further range of watersports including kayaks and canoes, open water swimming, paddleboarding and a fully accessible WheelyBoat allowing seating for up to 10 adults including 6 wheelchair users
All ticket sales will be reinvested into Local Solutions charitable work across the Liverpool City Region and North Wales.
Tom Harrison, Chief Executive at Local Solutions said: “We are passionate about using Liverpool Watersports Centre to make watersports accessible for all and our brand new adventure attraction in Queen’s Dock is part of that aim. We’re looking forward to welcoming people and families throughout the summer season to the centre and re-investing money raised from ticket sales back into funding the life-changing work we do.”

“One of our goals is to make sure we are really reaching out and ensuring diversity and inclusivity across all of our services. Watersports is a great way of doing that. It’s an amazing asset and hits all of our outcome areas.
“It’s now time to make sure all the public and everybody across the city knows it’s open for business and there’s some really exciting stuff to do there.
“For that reason I am very proud to have welcomed down the likes of Jamie Carragher and Natasha Jonas to show what this place is all about.”
Local Solutions are a major charity who have operated across Merseyside and North Wales for almost 50 years, driven by a vision for a society where all people can live with dignity, lead fulfilled lives and realise their full potential. Their mission is to empower people and support communities, which they do through work in social care, support and accommodation plus community endeavours.
A major aspect of this support is provided through the not-for-profit Liverpool Watersports Centre, which the charity leases from the Canal & River Trust, and all proceeds from activities go back into directly funding the incredible work Local Solutions do across their vast array of services.
